I moved to the City of Union in the summer of 2008 with my
family. My husband, Ken, and I have three fabulous children, Alexandria,
Jackson, and Everett.
I earned my Bachelor's of Urban Planning from the University
of Cincinnati's School of Planning in 1999. After graduation, I worked for a
private planning and engineering firm and focused on Comprehensive Planning and
Zoning Code Regulations development.
Then I moved into the public sector working for the City of
Newton Falls, OH and then Village of Trumansburg, NY as their Code Enforcement
Officer. In both municipalities, I was charged with enforcing their City's
zoning and property maintenance cods and subdivision regulations.
Since living in the City of Union, I have served the City on
the Economic Development Committee working toward making the Union Town Center
a reality. |

Karen has always been "a planner."
In high school, she planned dances and other school events with a spring in her step and a smile on her face. She loved it. And classmates appreciated the good times they had, thanks to her attention to detail.
But Karen didn't begin her career as an event coordinator. She first became a cosmetologist, eventually owning her own busy salon. After cutting and styling the hair of hundreds of brides-to-be, Karen made a life-changing decision. Why not combine her organizational skills with the knowledge she'd gleaned from bridal clients, and form her own wedding planning service?
The success of that business led in turn to event planning, and the city is pleased to welcome her as a valued member of the Union Team. |
