StoryPoint Union is honored to announce that two of the community’s residents have been chosen to be the grand marshals of the 2022 “Union Celebrates America” festival which will be held Friday, June 24, 2022.
The honor of being grand marshal is a coveted one, and there are few who are more deserving than Ken and Mary. Not only are they integral members of the StoryPoint Union community, but they have spent much of their lives dedicated to the greater community, too.
“Service has just come naturally to me my entire adult life,” said Ken. “It’s easy to dedicate yourself to something that means so much to you.”
Mayor Larry Soloman recognized their outstanding citizenship when he personally stopped by the community with flowers to ask them if they’d accept the honor of being grand marshals. Since then, StoryPoint sat down with Ken and Mary to discuss everything from Ken’s service in the Air Force and as a congressman, to Mary’s passion for teaching and successful career as a surgical nurse.
