The City of Union is rated “#1 in best places to live in Boone County”[1]. Union offers a low cost of living with a high quality of family-oriented lifestyle that appeals to younger, higher income professionals with families, as well as 55 and older retirees, especially those with grandchildren.
Union ranked as the place to be in Boone County is reflected in the 2020 Census which reported a spike in Union’s population from 5,379 to 7,416. This level of growth maintains the city’s position as the second largest in Boone County, Kentucky. The latest Census exceeded the projected population total by over 1,000. For reference, fifty years ago, the 1970 Census reported a mere population of 233.
“Managing the growth of a larger city while maintaining the values of a small town, is what makes Union unique,” stated Mayor Larry Solomon. “Residents and business owners appreciate the balance of development with a small town appeal.”
