ADOPT-A-UNIT

In March, 2010, the City of Union adopted unit HHT 1-32d, 1BCT, 101st Airborne Division as they were about to be deployed to Afghanistan.  This program is run through ASA (America Supporting Americans) which believes that a strong, supportive connection between young men and women of our armed forces and the civilian communities they are ready and willing to serve is crucial to morale. ASA has committed itself to building and strengthening this link and the citizens of this community are glad to do our part.  This private entity is chaired by Kim Voss and runs through the Adopt-A-Unit Committee comprised of private citizens from the area.

Since 2010, generous support has provided care packages (shipping, food, hygiene products, and other fun items) to remind our Soldiers that they are not forgotten.  In addition, Union Adopt-a-Unit proudly hosts the annual SPC Zachary Salmon Soldier Run in Memory of our local Soldier Zach Salmon. Zach was killed by a sniper in Afghanistan in 2011 and was a member of our sister Troop (Archangel) during the 2010-2011 deployment of 1-32 CAV. His family, here in NKY, have allowed us to share his story and honor his memory.

Please join and/or sponsor this annual 5k Run scheduled on April, 28, 2024 at Boone County Arboretum.
