SPECIAL MEETING

MAY 13, 2026 – 3:30 PM

CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Solomon called the Special Meeting to order at 3:30 PM.

ROLL CALL

A quorum was present, and a roll call was taken. Mayor Larry Solomon,

Commissioner John Mefford, Commissioner Doug Bine, Commissioner George Eldridge, and Commissioner Kim Tuyn.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

KRS 61.810 (1) (f) Discussions or hearings which might lead to the appointment, discipline, or dismissal of an individual employee, member, or student without restricting that employee’s, members, or students right to a public hearing if requested. This exception shall not be interpreted to permit discussion of general personnel matters in secret.

Mayor Solomon asked for a motion to enter executive session at 3:31 PM. Commissioner Bine made a motion and Commissioner Eldridge seconded the motion. Motion approved 5-0

Mayor Solomon asked for a motion to exit executive session at 5:07 PM. Commissioner Mefford made a motion and Commissioner Eldridge seconded the motion. Motion approved 5-0

Mayor Solomon stated no action was taken during executive session.

COMMISSION DISCUSSION OF CITY ADMINISTRATION POSITION
The Commission discussed hiring City of Union Public Works Director, Paul Kremer, for the position of City Administrative Officer (CAO) following an interview.

Mayor Solomon made a motion to hire Paul Kremer for the position of City Administrator Officer, and Commissioner Mefford seconded the motion. Commissioner Mefford voted yes, Commissioner Bine voted yes, Commissioner Eldridge voted yes, Mayor Solomon voted yes, and Commissioner Tuyn voted no. Commissioner Tuyn mentioned that she was voting no because she wanted the position of CAO advertised to the public before making a decision.
Motion approved 4-1

ADJOURN

Mayor Solomon asked for a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Eldridge made a motion, and Commissioner Tuyn seconded that motion. The meeting adjourned at 5:13 PM.
